Tackle - Bighorn Trout Shop

Tackle

We carry the finest equipment from companies like Simms, Sage, Abel and Patagonia.

Four, five and six-weight rods are standard, with reels capable of holding at least 100 yards of backing. If possible, bring two rods in order to rig one up for nymph fishing and one for dry fly fishing. A four-weight rigged up for dries, and a six-weight for nymph fishing is perfect. This will save you time on the river. Flies are included in the guide trip price; additional terminal tackle (leaders, tippet, strike indicators, etc.) is not.

Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Breathable waders are versatile for a variety of conditions. Rain gear, and cold weather apparel is recommended, especially during the spring and fall. Expect hot temperatures in July and August. Sunscreen, insect repellant, sunglasses, anything you might need, is available at our shop.

All Bighorn Trout Shop guide trips are catch and release. A wild trout is too valuable to be used only once.

Also, keep in mind that alcoholic beverages can not be purchased on the Crow Indian Reservation, so plan accordingly.
